Something strange is going on with Daisy’s front tire. It wears off irregularly and the tire tread is not looking too good anymore. We talked to several specialists, but nobody really seems to know what’s going on. One says it’s a broken shock-absorber. Another one says it’s the alignment of the wheels and a third one says it’s because of too much driving on bad roads. We didn’t get any wiser so we assume that as long as the wheel is spinning, we can drive on.

The landscapes are off a fragile and pure beauty. Rocks and rivers, earth and air melt togheter, colours subtely merge like in an aquarel.

We very much love these northern open spaces, and the girls very much feel at home here.

Suddenly temperatures rise and keep hovering around or just below freezing point. It results in 3 days of rain and snow. And when the sky clears again, it’s as if the world is holding it’s breath and wonders which way to go. A perfect moment for us to fully enjoy nature.

Temperatures drop very fast. -10°C, -15°C, -20°C. Our water containers freeze overnight. Cooking oil, shampoo, anything that is somewhat liquid, coagulates in its bottle.

Roads that were wet from rain and snow, turn into ice rinks. Mountain roads are blocked. We try to drive on some of the dirt roads, but the ice is laying like a mirror on top of them. The 4 tons of Daisy dangerously slide downward. It’s madness to continue so we slowly turn around and drive back down. Nothing else left than go south…
