For 20 years, we ‘ve been travelling as backbackers. We threw our rucksacks on whatever came along: in the back of trucks, on tractors and carts. We slept in busses, in lodges, local homes and in our tent. Most of the time we carried our backpack ourselves and just walked…
Our travels were dotted with crazy adventures, inspiring people, fascinating cultures and stunningly beautiful nature.
Then these Heavenly Creatures came into our lives.
And our travels changed. We bought a minivan and explored the outskirts of Europe with our two furry girls. From Scotland to Romania and from Italy to Laponia. A balance between roadtrip and trekking. Travelling about and relying on each other turned us into a strong team.
But… whoever has wings, wants to fly…
And the longing for more, longer, and further away, grew… So the idea of travelling overland with the dogs to Siberia came up. We googled and read, and then Mongolia drew our attention too. Just lying there, a vast country, at the south border of Siberia.
“Why Not?” a dear friend of ours always says, and so Mongolia was taken into the plan. And afterwards Kyrgyzstan as well. Because, hey, what’s a few thousand km more once you’re already there?
Preparations were made. The minivan was swopped for a 4×4 overlandtruck. We struggled through visa applications, documents and health certificates. There was demolishing, building, welding and insulating…
Now the blog is ready, and it’s time to go.
No idea how often we can post an update, but if we happen to land in a wifi-spot, I’m sure we will.
